Simple Yoga Poses for Hormone Balance:

While the Sanskrit names of the following yoga poses might be difficult to pronounce, the poses themselves are super easy.

Sukhasana or “Easy Pose”

This simple yoga pose for hormonal balance is so easy that it’s commonly known as easy pose, sukhasana acts on the adrenal gland, which produces two important types of hormones in the body:

  1. Mineralocorticoids: maintain the body’s salt and water levels which, in turn, regulates blood pressure.
  2. Glucocorticoids: Cortisol, which is a glucocorticoid, is involved in stress response and also helps to regulate the metabolism.

For this pose, sit erect with crossed legs. Place your palms together in front of your chest in a prayer position. With a deep inhale through your nose, lift your shoulders, neck, and spine upward. As you exhale through your nose, roll your shoulders down your back. Repeat for five-ten deep breaths.

Paschimottanasana or “Seated Forward Bend”

This posture is yet another simple yoga pose for hormonal balance that stimulates your:

  1. Pancreas
  2. Kidneys
  3. Thyroid Gland
  4. Thymus

For this pose, sit with your legs stretched out in front of you and flex your feet. Hinge forward at your hips, walking your hands down your legs and keeping your back flat. Rest with your hands alongside your legs, grabbing the big toes (or whatever is easiest to reach) for five deep breaths.

It’s hard to believe that these two simple yoga poses can contribute to your body’s health in so many ways, but yoga really does stimulate our endocrine system in many ways.
